This is something that has been on our minds for quite some time now. We are very passionate about marriages and seeing them succeed, and we want to do what we can to help others by sharing what we've learned in the past 21 years. We want to help marriages grow and thrive and be all they can be. We know being married is just plain hard sometimes! It's a choice..a choice on your wedding day and every day after. Sometimes it's a moment by moment choice. It's certainly not always a feeling. No matter what the social media highlights look like, the truth is that we don't always feel in love. We don't always feel like putting the other one first. But we choose it! Because we made a promise 21 years ago to do just that. Staying married is a choice, not a feeling. Now, don't misunderstand us...we haven't lost that lovin feeling! 🎶 Most of the time we adore being together and can't get enough of each other, but there are plenty of in-between times that we have had to simply choose each other. Period.
Now we are well aware that this post is more for married couples than engaged couples, which are usually our target audience. Sometimes though God does things in your business that are much bigger than yourself, and not all about drumming up business. This is one of those times for us.
Our hearts have absolutely broken recently upon realizing that several couples that we hold dear friends had divorced. It was almost too much to bear. We are not here to judge..at all. We know that we would be fools to assume we understand the "whys" of each divorce. What we do know though is the pain divorce brings to all involved. Carol is a child of divorce (C.O.D.), and although God has brought about beautiful redemption and restoration in our family, it hasn't been an easy road...for anyone involved - not for our parents, or Allen & I, nor our kids. Our marriage began pretty rocky because of it, but we are so happy to tell you that it hasn't stayed that way! Because of the pain though, we want to do all we can to encourage your marriage...whether you're engaged, just married or have been married for years.
We can't wait to share more with you each Monday on the trials and triumphs in our journey and encourage you on yours!
